This notice explains how MARSEL DELIGHTS UK LTD, trading as Teanook, collects and uses your personal data when you browse our store, place an order for teaware, join Teanook Club, or contact us. It also explains your rights and how to exercise them.
- We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
- We collect only what we need to run the store, fulfil orders and reply to you.
- Card payments are handled by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number.
- We ship worldwide, so limited data may be transferred internationally under safeguards.
- You have rights over your data under UK GDPR, EU GDPR and, for California residents, the CCPA.
1. Who is responsible for your data (controller)
The data controller is MARSEL DELIGHTS UK LTD, trading as Teanook, registered office at 151 West Green Road, London, England, N15 5EA, United Kingdom. You can reach us about privacy at support@marseldelights.shop or +44 7597454588.
Our internal company registration number is used only for back-office reconciliation and is not published on this website.
2. What we collect
Depending on how you use Teanook, we may collect:
- Order and delivery data: name, email, phone (optional), delivery (shipping) address, city, postal code and country used for order fulfilment.
- Payment-related data: billing details and a payment confirmation token from Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number, CVC or full card details.
- Account and membership data: if you join Teanook Club, your subscription status and billing period, managed through Stripe.
- Enquiry and support data: the contents of contact and event-order forms, including subject, message, occasion, guest numbers and budget band.
- Technical data: basic device, browser and usage information and strictly necessary cookies (see our Cookie Policy).
3. Collection sources — where the data comes from
Our collection sources are:
- Directly from you when you fill in a form, add items to your cart, place an order or check out.
- Automatically from your device and our hosting provider (technical and usage data, strictly necessary cookies).
- From our payment processor, Stripe, which returns a payment confirmation after you pay.
- From delivery carriers where a tracking or delivery status update is provided for your order.
We do not buy personal data or obtain it from third-party data brokers; these collection sources are the only ways we receive your data.
4. Why we use it, and our legal bases
- To fulfil your order (process payment, pack, ship and support delivery) — performance of a contract.
- To manage Teanook Club subscriptions and benefits — performance of a contract.
- To respond to enquiries and event-order requests — legitimate interests and, where relevant, steps prior to a contract.
- To keep records and meet legal, tax and accounting duties — legal obligation.
- To retain checkout details as a re-marketing lead where you provided them but did not complete payment — legitimate interests; you may object at any time.
- To keep the store secure and prevent fraud — legitimate interests.
5. Payments — the card-data boundary
Card payments are processed by Stripe, our payment processor. Your card details are entered on Stripe's secure checkout and are handled by Stripe under PCI-DSS. Teanook never receives, sees or stores your full card number. We only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded or failed and the billing information needed for our records. The same card-data boundary applies to any other regulated payment provider we may add.
6. Who we share it with (processors)
We share data only with service providers that help us run the store, under contract and only as needed:
- Hosting & delivery of this site: our cloud hosting provider.
- Payments & subscriptions: Stripe.
- Order database & lead storage: our managed database provider.
- Email & support: our email provider, to send confirmations and reply to you.
- Delivery carriers: the courier or postal carrier that delivers your parcel receives the name and address needed to complete delivery.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
7. International transfers
We ship worldwide and use reputable service providers that may process data outside your country, including outside the UK or EEA. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK International Data Transfer Agreements, EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
8. How long we keep it (retention)
We keep order and transaction records for as long as needed to fulfil the order and to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations. Enquiry and marketing-lead data is kept for no longer than 24 months from your last contact, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or a longer period is legally required.
9. Security
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption in transit, access controls and keeping payment card handling entirely within Stripe. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to notify you and the relevant authority where the law requires.
10. Your rights (UK GDPR / EU GDPR)
Subject to conditions, you can ask us to:
- access a copy of your personal data;
- correct inaccurate data;
- erase data (the right to be forgotten);
- restrict or object to processing, including direct marketing;
- port your data to another provider; and
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any right, email support@marseldelights.shop. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority; in the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
11. California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. To make a request, email support@marseldelights.shop.
12. Do Not Sell or Share
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. There is therefore no sale to opt out of; if this ever changes, we will provide a clear opt-out.
13. Cookies and automated decisions
We use strictly necessary cookies to run the cart and store, and only limited analytics if enabled; see our Cookie Policy. We do not make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
14. Children and minors
Teanook is not intended for children. This store must not be used by anyone under 13. Customers aged 13–17 must have the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian, and hot-water teaware must always be used with adult supervision. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
15. Order fulfilment, shipping address and billing data (product specifics)
Because we ship physical teaware, order fulfilment is a core purpose of our processing. To fulfil an order we process your shipping address (delivery address), name and contact details to pack your parcel, arrange delivery and support returns and exchanges. Your shipping address is shared with the delivery carrier only to the extent needed to deliver the parcel, and cross-border shipments may involve customs information.
For our returns and exchange customer support, we use your order and contact details to handle replacements for fragile or damaged pieces and to process returns. Billing data linked to a payment (such as the billing name and address confirmed at checkout) is handled by Stripe under the card-data boundary described above and is retained by us only as needed for order records, accounting and support.
16. Changes and contact
We may update this notice; the "last updated" date shows the current version. For any privacy question or request, contact support@marseldelights.shop.
